When a VM runs in IA-32e mode there is minimal intervention from the hypervisor software and therefore the VM is running nearly bare metal on the CPU. Note that presence of EPT feature does not automatically mean the processor will have IA-32e mode capability. Therefore Q9400 is not supported at all with Workstation 14 as it now requires the CPU to have the VMX Unrestricted Guest feature. The Q9400 does not have Extended Page Tables (EPT) and by extension will not have the VMX Unrestricted Guest (aka IA-32e mode) which requires EPT. If you had overclocked the Q9400, try to reset back to normal clock speeds for this to not crash and run properly. Both are way off the published clock rate of 2.66GHz for the Q9400 processor. One thinks it is negative 34.9GHz while the other is 4.26 teraHertz. It looks like the crashing is because the clock estimates are wrong in different ways. Any help in solving the issue would be much appreciated. I have attached the logs for the Player and Workstation in the hope that it might make sense to one of you. For Access Denied I found to be at a Registry root key HKCR and a few other under HKLM\Software\Microsoft\WBEM\CIMOM. I have used sysinternals to try to look for Access Denied errors, but found quite some other error, with BUFFER OVERFLOW seems to be quite common. I have more then 60GB free on the disk drive as some people suggested that lack of space might cause the issue. vmem and lck file/folders several times, run it after starting it as Administrator. I have tried restarting the VMware services, rename the vmplayer.exe executable, repaire and reinstalled the software several times, cleaned the. As a host I am using Windows 7 圆4 Professional SP1 I have created a new Virtual machine in the Player, without any OS installed, but I am consistently getting the infamous "Error while powering on: Internal error" in the Player and the "Internal error." in the Workstation. Tried the 14 version but there seems to be a limitation caused by the CPU type. I installed a Trial version for the VMware Workstation 12, below is the version.
